ABOUT US

This 6th Malaysian Cryptology and Information Security Lecture Series 2025 (MCISLS 2025), is another initiative to put forward Malaysian research in the area for public discourse. This 6th series will bring in 8 experts in their related fields for the audience to benefit.

This year with the theme 40 years of Number Theory and Cryptography in Malaysia, talks will be given by eminent personalities that have shaped Malaysia's cryptographic landscape between 1985 and 2025.

All speakers have an average of 25 years experience in their research endevours.

Finally, the organizers sincerely hope that ideas will be fruitfully exchanged and new areas of exciting cryptographic research will emerge from this gathering.

Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Kamel Ariffin Mohd Atan
Professor Emeritus, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)

Expertise: Analytical Number Theory, Cryptography
Highlights: First Malaysian PhD holder in Number Theory (1985, NSW, Australia). Number Theory is the mathematical foundation for modern cryptography. Prominent figure in Malaysian cryptographic research. The 1st MSCR President.
 

Prof. Emeritus Dato' Dr. Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin
Professor Emeritus, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)

Expertise: Quantum Optics, Information Security
Highlights: PhD in Quantum Optics; contributor to quantum information science.
 

Ir. Dr. Megat Zuhairy Bin Megat Tajuddin
Chief Executive, National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), Malaysia

Expertise: Cybersecurity, ICT Infrastructure, Engineering Innovation
Highlights: Former Director of Engineering, ICT, and Innovation at PWD.

Highlights: Renowned for contributions in elliptic curve cryptography.

Highlights: Over 25 years of experience in cryptographic protocol development.
 

Prof. Madya Dr. Nor Azman Bin Abu
Associate Professor, Faculty of Information & Communication Technology, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)

Expertise: Number Theory, Applied Mathematics, Algebra
Highlights: Researcher in number theory and its applications to cryptography.
 

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rezal Kamel Ariffin
Professor, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)

Expertise: Cryptography, Mathematical Analysis
Highlights: Extensive work in mathematical structures within cryptosystems. Current 4th MSCR President 2025-2026.
